Hucknall Makes Music Festival

It's been a while since I wrote anything, mainly because I've been preparing to be part of HuMM - a music festival to promote live music to the community of Hucknall.

We're about half way through the festival and there have already been many different performances, 6 or 7 of which I have been part.

Singing this many times in a short space of time could be problematic- there are a few more performances I'm piping up at.

So far, by resting between performances, being gentle on the vocal folds, and using breath in the most helpful way, my singing voice is more than holding out.

However, as a secondary teacher by day, I hadn't expected the new term to have had the impact on my voice that it has. I've been blasting out Korn, Faure, Cohen, Tetris and my singing voice is fine but my speaking voice is lacking clarity. So, I guess from now on in, I'm going to have to lend my singing technique to my speaking - I need to be more intentional in the way I use my voice every day.

So, it's settled, I'm singing at the students tomorrow! Or maybe I'll hydrate, concentrate on the tone and pitch of my voice and use my breath properly.

Bring on Saturday's Cabaret performance- Evita here I come. It would be great to see you there (bring a bottle)
